Lifeline Children’s Hospital is a very busy place as such some guidelines are essential when staying or visiting:
Identification:
Our members of staff usually wear an identity badge at all times. Should you or your child be approached by someone not wearing an identity badge at any time, kindly check with ward staff.
Security
The Hospital has a security team on duty 24hrs a day, seven days a week.
They are there to protect staff and visitors to the Hospital.
Fire Safety:
The Hospital has a very dependable fire alarm system. If you are on the ward when there is an outbreak of fire, please remain calm and follow instructions from the dedicated fire captains on duty.
Smoking
Lifeline is a smoke-free area; this means that you can not smoke anywhere inside the Hospital property and adjacent areas such as entrances to the Hospital buildings.
Mobile Phone.
Mobile Phones can be used inside the Hospital, only within designated areas. Using your mobile elsewhere could cause interference with the medical equipments.
We also advise visitors to be considerate when using mobile phones, turning them off during consultation and keeping the noise down when children are sleeping nearby.
Respect for our staff and other families
At Lifeline Children’s Hospital, there is ‘zero tolerance’ for behavior that is inappropriate or threatening to families or staff. Although this is rare at Lifeline, we will not tolerate any kind of threatening behavior-verbal, physical or psychological. At LCH, we have a policy that deals with these kinds of behavior. This involves asking the person to come to an agreement about the behavior we expect from them. In the rare circumstances where this agreement is not kept, we can remove the person from the Hospital.
Responsibility for Children.
.Parents and Guardians are responsible for the behavior of their children and the safety and behavior of any siblings coming to visit. Please make arrangements for supervision of brothers and sisters at all times.
Visiting
Parents and relatives are welcome at all times, as are brothers and sisters.
Friends and other relatives should visit between 5and 8pm .Visitors with colds, coughs or other infections diseases should check with the ward first and preferably not visit until they are well.
